CRITERIA
Eligible candidates must have at least one Jewish parent and have identified as a Jew or who have converted to Judaism.
Their achievements include one or more of the following:
To win an Olympic or World Championship gold medal; or multiple Olympic or World Championship other medals.
To win multiple medals from smaller, highly prestigious events, e.g. Paralympics, Pan American Games and Commonwealth Games.
To be elected to the International or National Hall of Fame of their sport.
To be selected All-Star or All-Pro in a major professional sport.
To break a world record or other unique achievement in their sport, such as being named MVP of a World Series or Super Bowl.
To be ranked in the World’s Top 10, where such rankings are considered a major achievement (e.g. tennis, boxing, golf).
To win a national championship or rank near the top of their sport in their country.
To be a finalist in a Grand Slam tournament or equivalent event in a major sport.
Eligible athletes have starred at the top level of their sport, not at age related events, or minor league levels.
Eligible non-athletes — media personalities, sports pioneers, coaches and others — who were outstanding in their field, accomplished innovative achievements, or played key roles in significant sports events.
