An Australian first-class cricketer for 19 years, Michael Klinger held the record for the most runs scored in the Big Bash League when he retired in 2019.
A right-handed opening batsman, Klinger's career saw him play for three different Australian state teams as well as English county cricket and the Indian Premier League. After 10 years at Victoria, Klinger moved to South Australia in 2008 and quickly established himself as one of the best domestic players in the country, hitting 1203 runs at 70.76 in his first Sheffield Shield season, with four centuries.
His bests include a 255 against Western Australia, and 886 runs at 63.28 the following season. He was named State Player of the Year in 2009 and 2010, when named the SA captaincy.
Klinger also starred for SA's Redbacks in one-day cricket and Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League. After six years in South Australia, he moved to Western Australia in 2014 to join the Warriors and Perth Scorchers. Klinger also signed with English county Gloucestershire in 2013 and was a dominant force for the club's limited-overs teams.
A batsman with an insatiable appetite for runs in domestic cricket, Klinger made his international debut in 2017 in T20 cricket.
