Lori Komisar's lifetime commitment to making a difference, focusing on a brighter, better tomorrow and making this a kinder, better world are reflected in everything she does.
Lori's passion for living a life of meaning is well known, admired, and is almost impossible to duplicate on any given day! "Hineni" - here I am, is Lori's immediate response when asked to shoulder any project, activity, or responsibility. The door to Lori and Morrie's home and hearts is always open, always ready to lead by their outstanding examples. As National President of the Israel ParaSport Center from 2012 to 2024, she has helped guide the organization to national prominence. She and Morrie embody the values of The Center’s founder, Moshe Rashkes (z'l) and continue the vision he established at The Center in Ramat Gan 65 years ago. Together, they saw the power of possibility, the 'yes, I can' spirit of the athletes when they first visited The Center many years ago. They saw the personal values and goals that have guided their own lives in the leadership of The Center. Their lifetime bond and commitment was sealed!
Under Lori’s leadership the Israel ParaSport Center, fondly called “Spewack” in Israel, has expanded its funding to support competitive Israeli para-athletes who proudly represent the State of Israel around the world. Over the past 15 years, athletes from The Center have successfully competed in various sports including swimming table tennis, basketball, rubgy, tennis, boccia, cycling and more.
Lori Komisar currently serves on the Israel ParaSport Center, U.S. Executive Committee as Finance Chair. In addition, she is a Vice Chair of Birthright Israel Foundation, an organization focused on ensuring a committed, vibrant Jewish future. It fits her mantra of striving for that secure Jewish tomorrow. As a mother to three adult children, Miriam, Randi and David, and now a grandmother of four, it's no wonder Birthright caught her attention. Lori's children are Birthright Alums and one day her grandchildren Talia, Galit, Asher and Pnina, together with thousands of other young adults will come to appreciate their heritage and tradition thanks to her tireless efforts. Lori's leadership will help guarantee Birthright's future. Jewish educational organizations locally and nationally call Lori a devoted participant. If it's Jewish, if it supports the State of Israel, if it involves children, if it needs someone to help move it forward, Lori will have answered the call with her resounding 'YES, OF COURSE I WILL'. Together with Morrie, they believe in that cause that needs assistance, for the future in the distance and the good that they can do!
