DESCRIPTION:

Russian Leonid Geishtor won the C-2 1000-meter canoe event (with Sergei Makarenko) at the 1960 Rome Olympics. It was the first Olympic gold medal won by a Belarusian athlete.

He and his partner won the 10,000 meter event at the 1963 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Bosnia Herzegovina.

Geishtor was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor in 1960.
