Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram became the only Israeli team to win a grand slam tennis tournament when they captured the 2008 Australian Open men's doubles title. Erlich reached a career-high doubles ranking of world number five in 2008.

Erlich turned pro in 1996 at the age of 19 and retired in 2022 with 22 doubles titles. He reached 44 doubles finals, mostly with Ram, but also won the 2010 Queen's Club Championship with Novak Djokovic.

Internationally, Erlich participated in two Olympic Games (2004, 2012) and played for the Israeli Davis Cup team in 2000 and 2002-2009. In 2009, Erlich and Ram – known in Israel as "Andyoni” — won the clinching match in Israel's upset victory over Russia, the top-ranked country in the Davis Cup standings.

Erlich holds the Israeli Davis Cup record for most doubles wins (27), best doubles team record (19-5), most times played (39) and most years played (20). Erlich went on to become captain of the Israeli Davis Cup team.
