Jesse Silver is co-author of The Encyclopedia of Jews in Sports (Bloch Publishing, New York, 1965). Written with Bernard Postal and Roy Silver, it is the most extensive publication on the subject of Jews in sports ever published.

Silver wrote a weekly sports column for the Jewish Telegraphic
Agency (JTA) from 1964 to 1971. Since 1960, he has also written and contributed to numerous articles on the subject of Jews in sports. He is a cousin of co-author Roy Silver.
