The power-hitting Kinsler, from Tucson, Arizona, retired in 2019 with the eighth most home runs (257) of any second baseman in baseball history. He ranked fourth all-time in leadoff home runs (48) among all MLB players. Kinsler also stole 243 bases and was a two-time member of the 30-30 club (30 home runs and stole 30 bases in the same season). He was the Texas Rangers' all-time stolen base leader when he was traded to the Detroit Tigers following the 2013 season.

Kinsler was also a fine fielder, winning the Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award (2014), Fielding Bible Award (2015) and two Gold Glove Awards (2016, 2018).

In 2017, he helped lead Team USA to gold in the World Baseball Classic. In 2020, he became a dual American-Israeli citizen and played for Israel at the Olympic Games. He managed Team Israel at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
