Dr. Lellewer was the dynamic leader of the Maccabi World Union from 1927 to 1935, when the movement’s world headquarters were in Berlin, Germany.
Dr. Lellewer spearheaded Maccabi’s resistance to Nazism until 1935, when the movement moved its chief offices to London. It was under Dr. Lellewer’s leadership that the first World Maccabiah Games were held in Israel in the spring of 1932.
