Brad Gilbert was an outstanding American tennis player who was ranked number 4 in the world in 1990. Gilbert was often among the Association of Tennis Professionals world top 10 in the 1980s and ’90s, winning 20 ATP singles tournaments while defeating the best of his era, including Pete Sampras, Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg.

Representing the U.S. internationally, the Bay Area native won a bronze medal at the 1988 Olympics and two medals at the 1981 Maccabiah Games. He played on Davis Cup teams from 1986 to 1993, winning 10 singles matches.

In his post-playing days, Gilbert has coached such tennis stars as Andre Agassi, Andy Murray and Coco Gauff. He also joined ESPN and became one the world’s foremost tennis analysts. His tennis handbook Winning Ugly has been translated into more than 12 languages.
