In 1988, Rosenfeld was one of nine players inducted into the Rugby League Hall of Fame when it became the first national sporting Hall of Fame in the United Kingdom. From 1909 to 1924, wing/three-quarter Rosenfeld played the bulk of his career with the Huddersfield Club, and was a member of the franchise dubbed the “Team of All the Talents”. He averaged more than a try a game (386 tries in 376 games) during his 15 season career. The 5-foot 5.5” Rosenfeld still holds the record for the number of tries scored in a single season: 80 tries in 1913-14, topping his previous record of 78 tries during the 1911-12 season. (For perspective––2004’s top scorer, Lesley Vainakolo, scored 36 tries.) In 1909, Rosenfeld was a member of the first Australian touring party to visit the UK and made two lasting impressions: He impressed his British hosts enough to be offered a spot on the Huddersfield Rugby Club, and a local young lady, who became his wife. As of 2004, there were only 13 men elected to the Rugby League Hall of Fame: 7 are English, 3 Welsh, 2 Australian and 1 South African.
