A member of the International Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, Linda Cohn has announced her retirement after 34 years at ESPN. 

Cohn is a trailblazer for women in sports media, and she is one of the most prolific sports anchors of all time. With over 5,500 appearances on SportsCenter, and constant coverage of the WNBA and NHL, Cohn has spent over 30 years as one of the faces of ESPN. 

She made history in 1987 as the first full-time female sports anchor on a national U.S. radio network after joining ABC. Prior to that, she broke new ground as the first woman to serve as a sports anchor at WCBS Radio, where she worked from 1984 to 1987.

Cohn’s television career took off when she joined KIRO-TV in Seattle as a sports anchor and reporter from 1989 to 1992. While there, she caught the attention of ESPN and was hired to anchor SportsCenter in July 1992, a role she has held ever since.

A four-time Emmy Award winner for her work on SportsCenter, Cohn has earned widespread recognition throughout her career. While attending SUNY Oswego, she played goalie for the school’s ice hockey team and was later inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame. In 2003, she was inducted into the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame, and she also received the Women’s Sports Foundation’s prestigious sports journalism award.
