Israel’s Tamar Steinberg Wins Windsurfing World Title
(I24News) – Israeli windsurfer Tamar Steinberg won her first world title at the iQFOiL championships in Weymouth, England, with compatriot Sharon Kantor taking silver.
Steinberg, 20, won Saturday’s final after dominating the qualifying stage, winning seven of 16 races. Fellow Israeli Daniela Peleg finished fourth.
The victory adds to Steinberg’s European title earlier this year and follows her silver medal at last year’s world championships.
“I’ve been waiting for this title for a long time and am overjoyed that it’s finally happened. I came into this competition with a clear goal to win and gave it my all from the very first moment, but with the medal race format, anything can happen—so it’s amazing that everything worked out for the best,” Steinberg said.
