Israel Women’s Lacrosse Dominates on the Biggest Stage
Congratulations to the Israel Women’s Lacrosse team who have defeated Australia 12-11 in the World Lacrosse Championship, and will be moving on to the semi-finals to play the United States of America on Friday!
This follows an incredible group stage display, where the Israel Women’s Lacrosse team won its first three games at this year’s Lacrosse World Championship. The squad is led by tournament top scorer Jordyn Lipkin, who has fifteen goals and twenty one points across Israel’s four games.
“The pride this group of players gives us is indescribable, the composure they carry no matter the scoreline or the momentum on the field. They never stop believing in themselves, in their strength as a team, and in their ability to overcome any obstacle. We are so excited about qualifying for the semifinals. What makes this run even more meaningful is what it represents back home, where we’re working every day to get young girls across Israel picking up a stick for the first time and building youth programs that will carry this momentum forward for years to come.” says Israel Lacrosse Executive Director Ian Kadish.
It seems hard work has paid off for Team Israel, following a tough training camp hosted by Rider University this past May. This summer’s World Lacrosse Women’s Championship, the sport’s premier international tournament, brings 16 national teams to Tokyo from July 24 to August 2, with most matches held at The Oi Stadium and the semifinals and medal rounds staged at Prince Chichibu Memorial Stadium.
Sophie Bass and Kate Goldstein serve as head coaches at the championships. The Israeli team marks its fourth appearance in the championship’s history, having competed in 2013, 2017, and 2022.
